Mobile Friendly Website will Boost Social Consumer Engagement

Will  Implementing  a  New Mobile Website Increase Your Product's  Visibility
A recent survey by Web.com says 84% of small businesses that go mobile see an increase in profits. That's a pretty high percentage and you can imagine that 84% of those small businesses aren't marketing geniuses. They just realized that their customers were on their mobiles 24/7 and they needed to be there too.
All of the marketing experts online are predicting that mobile will be even more important to businesses in the future. Global financial services firm Morgan Stanley released a report a few years ago saying that mobile web surfing would surpass desktop usage by 2015. The report showed that mobile use was growing exponentially.

People are increasingly looking for offline businesses on their mobile devices, and this means it's time to get on the ball. Just going mobile can increase your profits, but if you really want a mobile site that rocks, there are a few things to consider.
Design and Navigation
You know how important navigation is for a PC website. Well, for a mobile site, it's even more important. Mobile websites have high bounce rates. To keep them on the site, the design has to be simple and stripped down. All of your site's pages should be just one or two clicks from the front page. Images should be small and minimal, and there should be plenty of empty space. Don't use Flash or anything else that loads slowly.
When designing your site, think about how they're going to be using it. Remember that they won't have a keyboard. Entering text on a mobile is a frustrating experience. Most mobile devices use a touch screen, so consider thumb swishing when you plan your layout. Put your buttons in places where they're easy to tap.
Know Your Mobile Visitors
In order to make any website profitable, you need to understand who's using it and how they're using it. The fact is that we use our mobiles differently than we use our computers. For example, consider when we're online. People are much more likely to be on their mobiles while riding the train, waiting in line at the bank, or sitting on the couch watching TV in the evening.
People use their mobiles to find local businesses and to compare prices. While you're shopping in a retail store, you can use your smartphone to compare prices and learn more about the physical products you're thinking of buying.
Mobile users spend LOTS of time on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Studies have shown that the time spent socializing on mobiles is steadily increasing and social media sites are capitalizing on this by creating more mobile-friendly features. Find out what your customers are doing on their mobiles and you'll know exactly how to market to them.
The Mobile Revolution
So, does a mobile site get you more profits? The answer is yes, and it's going to mean even more profits in the coming years. Sales of mobile devices are only increasing, so if you haven't already gone mobile, now's the time to do it.

Leverage on Mobile Internet to Access China's Whopping Online Consumers

We wish to give  credit  to Willis Wee Founder of Tech in Asia who is also an entrepreneur since 2005. Contact him at willis[at]techinasia[dot]com for  his article as follows ;

CNNIC has recently released a lengthy but fascinating report showing how mobile is overtaking the desktop in China. As you can see in the graph below, there is a continual surge of mobile internet users.
CNNIC says there are more than 388 million mobile internet users recorded in June of this year. That figure has finally exceeded desktop internet users which are slightly over 380 million users.
mobile-users-in-china
The report also found that 72.2 percent of internet users use mobile devices to browse the web. In contrast there are lower proportion of internet users using the desktop as their gateway to the internet. Six months ago, the desktop accounted for 73.4 percent of all Chinese internet users. Today, it accounts for 70.7 percent, a drop of 2.7 percent [1].
internet-users-in-china-medium
So why the huge jump in mobile internet users? It’s largely thanks to users in the rural areas of China. CNNIC compares users who are from the city versus the countryside and came into conclusion that people outside of big cities depend on their mobile phones to access the internet. That doesn’t discount desktop in anyway as it is used by 45.7 percent of the rural area citizens. Notebook/laptops are at a miserable 8.7 percent. So it looks like there’s a space for cheap notebooks to penetrate rural regions in China.
mobile-users-cities-vs-village
Mobile phones accounted for a whopping 60.4 percent of the rural region’s internet usage. Not only are there more internet users in China, the time they spent online is also getting longer. Six months ago, Chinese spent 18.7 hours online. Today, an average user spent 19.9 hours, about 6 percent increase in time spent on the web. Web users vary in age, anywhere from 10 to 60 years old. But the bulk of internet users are aged between 10 to 39 years old. The majority of users are at least high-school educated and are students or freelancers.
The monthly income of Chinese internet users have two outstanding groups. One has an average city salary of about 2000 to 5000 RMB and another is the lower tier of “below 500 RMB” group. Users in town and cities accounted for 72.9 percent of all internet users while villages accounted for 27.1 percent. Again, new internet users are coming from villages and their virgin experience to the web is via their mobile phones.
So how are Chinese users using the internet? You can find a breakdown below. Surprisingly, weibo/microblogging accounts for 50 percent of web activities, which is far more than group buying in China for sure!

So overall, we hope CNNIC statistics are helpful to foreigners who are looking at China for opportunities. If you understand Chinese, I would urge you to check out the entire CNNIC’s report here. But note that there’s obviously a divide in internet user behavior in the China – with white collar people on one side and an emerging group for rural people. I would also urge you to read the story of “W and L” which has been translated by the good folks at Techrice and Tea Leaf Nation to understand the Chinese internet a little better.

Mobile Social Media | China At Your Fingertips

While   major social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube  are given  very little  exposure   in China ,these   does not limit  Netizens  in China  to access  to  Mobile Social  media  especially  China-specific, alternatives  which are  flourishing. There are  many  mobile  and social networking  sites   like  Renren  and Weibo which both  amount over 460 million users in China . Like  Facebook  and  Twitter, both Renren ( Chinese similar Facebook )   and  Weibo ( Chinese similar Twitter  )  has been used widely   in chinese communities   in many  countries throughout the world .

Mobile and Social Networking

One main point  which I  noticed over the years  in China  is  that  Chinese  do  highly  value word of mouth more than in other countries because most  Governmental controlled public informations are usually sanctioned or censored  , and tweets  can  spread  fast  to general user of  both mobile and social network ,due  to  phones has a direct empowering factor and   are more affordable  these days  in China .

During  the course  of putting up the Mobile Social Media Intelligence  report,  my journey  has brought  me  to  many stats  board  to gather  some  data and we are most appreciate   to have enjoyed  the following  video  put  up  by by  the Shanghaiist displaying  a nice informative animation from an  ad company ; GroupM  Interaction  with  result  data  quite  inline with  year 2011

                                          Video Credit :GroupM  Interaction

This  video  is very well presented  and  offers   alot of  interesting  facts , and  the most interesting part is  presented at the end where it shows  how a 10 year  old  Kid  cleverly applies his mobile strategy  to use an Location Based  Service  app to keep tabs on where his father’s whereabouts  and proximity .
So I encourage all  audience to check  out the  video  for yourself. The source of the figures is not listed, but the numbers look to be in line with data we’ve seen from other sources as well.

Mobile Social Media |How Having a Mobile Optimized Site Gives You Mobile Media Advantage

A huge number of searches are now being done with mobile devices and this is only going to increase in the very near future. People bought more smartphones and other mobile devices this year than socks, and they're increasingly looking for your business by swishing their fingers on that little screen.

What this means for you is that your website has to be mobile-optimized. If you optimize it for mobile devices, you'll have an unfair advantage over the competition – and that's a good thing!

Maximized User Experience
A mobile-optimized website gives the user a much better experience. If the user experience is bad, they'll give your website about 3 nanoseconds of their attention before they click away to your competitor's.

Nobody wants to look at a desktop-optimized website on their smartphone. Search engines, which are placing more emphasis on mobile search, will also love it.

Features and Apps

When your site is optimized for mobile devices, you can take advantage of all sorts of features and applications, especially for smartphones. These include things like touch-screen options and integration with text and email.
A person can, for example, find your business on Google Maps, read a Yelp review, blab about it on Facebook and then email a friend and say, 'Let's meet here,' all quickly and easily.

Burn Your Brand into Their Brain

What does somebody think when they stumble on a site that's well optimized for mobile? They think, 'Wow, cool!' By optimizing your site, you've just done wonders for your brand.

You immediately stand out from the competition, which still has their boring desktop site showing up on mobile browsers. You've already told them that you're 'with it' without saying anything.

Load It Up

If your site is optimized for mobile, everything will load faster, and this means that your users have more time for browsing and enjoying your content. In fact, mobile users have notoriously little patience. Hamsters have longer attention spans. The time it takes for a Flash video or fancy graphic to load can lose you potential business quickly.

Stay Ahead of the Competition

Experts estimate that around 98% of all websites are currently not mobile optimized. This is especially true of offline businesses, which are often the last to adopt new technologies online. This means that getting ready for mobiles puts you far ahead of the competition.

And the longer your site shows up in searches and draws traffic, the more authority it's given by the search engines. You get a head start.

Finally, the greatest thing about optimizing your site for mobile devices is that you can do it without affecting your site adversely at all. It only adds to your search engine optimization and takes nothing away. The world is going mobile, so get with it!
